Supermodels,Part 9 [Raquel Zimmermann]

"It's a big business. There's much more of everything: more shows, more designers, more models, too."
Right from the get-go, some girls know what they've been put on earth to do. That's why Brazilian bombshell Raquel Zimmermann, born May 6, 1983, joined a modeling school at the tender age of 14. And since real talent rarely stays hidden for long, the Rio Grande do Sul native found her way to Paris and made her runway debut for Chanel and Valentino in 1999. Just a few months later, her gorgeous face and soon-to-be-famous profile graced the cover of French Vogue.
The spectacular beauty's career soared; Zimmermann inked a cosmetics contract with Christian Dior and became a campaign favorite as the face for such designers as Fendi, Escada, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton. She filmed Gucci's first-ever commercial, a steamy short directed by David Lynch. Raquel's impressive editorial range keep her in high demand: She regularly fills the pages of Vogue, V, and W with memorable features like V's recent "Blonde Ambition," and Vogue placed her among "the world's next top supermodels."
In the rare moments Zimmermann's not in front of the camera, she likes to play the guitar and hang out with her husband, photographer Ruy Sanchez Blanco. Known for her timeless look, spotless reputation, and unusual penchant for punctuality, Zimmermann undoubtedly has a long career ahead of her.
