Supermodels , Part 11

"We all come from different parts of the planet and every walk of life, and we come together in this mad ball of energy." Vogue

When Lily isn't serving as muse to Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, she's appearing on the covers of such top mags as Italian Vogue and walking for the likes of Versace. Vogue named her a top new supermodel in 2007.

Talk about an It Girl: Lily Donaldson practically defines the term. Lily hails from London, where she was born on January 27, 1988. Though her father is photographer Matthew Donaldson, Lily hadn't thought about modeling—she was considering art school—until she was discovered while shopping in Camden at age 16.

Lily rocketed to superstar status thanks in part to 2004's Burberry campaign, photographed by Mario Testino. This was followed with a nomination for the Best Model award at the British Fashion Awards in 2005. She lost to Karen Elson, but the nomination marked her arrival on the supermodel scene, and the world took notice.

Dominating the catwalk from couture to ready-to-wear, Asprey to Versace, Lily has been in demand by top designers since her Fall 2004 debut for Jil Sander and Rochas. She's also graced the covers of the top magazines. Italian Vogue featured this blue-eyed stunner twice in 2005 (March and September); both covers were photographed by Steven Meisel. Numéro doubled down on Lily, betting its June and December 2005 issues on her. Cementing her place in the upper echelons of modeldom, Vogue named Lily a next top supermodel on its May 2007 cover.

As for campaigns, Burberry brought Lily back again in 2007, and she's remained with the design house since. Annie Leibovitz shot Lily for Roberto Cavalli in 2005, and Steven Meisel captured her for both Dolce & Gabbana and Mulberry in 2006. Add to that Max Mara (2007-08), Christian Dior (2007), and Gucci (2008-09) and it becomes clear that Lily is surely here to

When Lily isn't serving as muse to Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz or hanging out at her apartment in New York's East Village, she spedns time with ehr boyfriend Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, son of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld. Lily just can't help but get everyone's attention, and we can't wait to see what she accomplishes next.
